Sony Support

At the age 54, Sony once had a good name for quality reliability and support, which does not seem to be the case anymore!

Three months ago my Xperia Z1 developed a fault, the screen splintered after six months from the purchase date. It hadn’t had an impact or dropped I sent the z1 to be looked at here in the UK and was informed by Sony that it was not covered by warranty. I informed them that I had noticed after playing music all day the screen was getting warm just where it splintered. They didn’t even mention my concerns over the screen getting hot but came back with the same reply that it was not covered by warranty. So I ask if they could do one of three things pointing out it was only six months old.

  1. Repair phone
  2. Replace phone
  3. Send me a report on the phone.

After 3 months of emailing back and forth not one of the three things I asked for have been done.

The CEO of Sony say they are expecting losses , with today’s economics you would think that Sony would try to improve their image and get a customer loyalty base like Apple and Samsung, but if the last three months is anything to go by that does not seem to be the case.

As you and I are in the UK then I can tell you without doubt that you have the ability to ask for a Deadlock letter and then with that start a claim either with trading standards or via the Small claims court - Keep a copy of all correspondence
