Hi
Not sure If I understood everything correctly but you want write access to SD card ? Then no need to root or do anything if you're running lollipop on Xperia Z2. But as Alexdon already said, office suite has read only access to SD.
Download this > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.explorer&hl=en
Run the app
------Select the "Plus" and then tap on "External SD card tab" >
------Now a SD card option will be shown in the top bar, select that.
-----Tap on the plus sign again > select "folder" and you will get this warning
Select OK.
------You might get this screen as shown below, ( if not then skip to next step ) select SD card
-----Now this screen and tap on "Select SD Card" from the bottom.
Then you will be directed to name the folder, cancel it. Without restarting your phone, do anything you want with your SD card.
Regarding root thing, I don't think you wanna root your phone if you don't know much about it.
Also even if you root, Office suite would still not work.
My office suite works fine but I did change the permissions

Not sure how to Root with LP on a Z2 so check XDA on that but if you do manage it then use a app called File manager HD and enable Root explorer to gain full read and write rights on and of the SD card, other file managers that offer Root explorer abilities are available but that is the one I use
@Thommo , what do you mean by "root explorer" here ? Because for me, root explorer is this
I guess that is something similar to what is "Superuser" , which is installed upon rooting and grants root permission to other apps.
If possible, get me ss or link of this root explorer you're talking about
The below image is via my File manager app which due to me been rooted allows me to root access to files and with the option ticked below that I have read and write permission on all modes of storage
Hi thommo
Unfortunately didn't work. First of all , that root explorer option in that app, as I understand is just providing access to "data" and "system files" on the "root" partition of the phone and allows us to modify them.
And now I know why office suite works for you and not for me as I observed you screenshot.
You're running kitkat on the phone you've shown. On kitkat, google has given no option to make changes on SD card. You need root once to break that lock and then you're done for every app forever ( until software repair) .
But I and the thread maker is on lollipop. On lollipop, google changed everything. It has provided access to SD card already ( unlike kitkat) but we need to grant permission everytime. So root doesn't help at all here.
No wonder I felt it completely weird that how can one app ( File Manager HD here) provide read write access to all the other apps ( Office suite in this case).
So, looks like no way on lollipop even after rooting as I said before.
And I tried on Xperia Z1 running kitkat, Office suite started working as soon as I rooted it and broke the lock on SD ( without using File manager HD). It would be great if someone else confirms it as well.
