Hi, this is my first smart phone, so please be gentle with me!! I was trying to access our cloud based business recording system and when I entered the web address I got a screen with the message:
Updating the App
and the circular twiddly thing going round.
This went on for a long time (over 15 minutes). I tapped the back arrow and got another screen and the message:
Update ready to install/phone will not be available even for emergency calls. Update will take about 10 minutes and then phone will re boot (or words to that effect)
I tapped that and got the Power Off screen - the phone shut down and then I got the little Android fellow with a geometrical figure emerging from an opening in its belly. It's been like that now for nearly 4 hours!!
I downloaded the Update thingy from the Sony website and tried plugging the phone into my computer as per the instructions, but nothing happened.
What do I do now? Going away tomorrow morning and really need my phone to keep in touch with business while I'm away.
Did you try to repair your firmware with Sony PC companion?
If not you can follow this guide
If your phone isn't recognised by your PC probably you need to go to a Sony Service center for firmware reload
Thanks Cot88. A few minutes ago I checked my phone and the screen had gone blank. Plugged it in to the charger and it's come back to life!!
Seems a process that was supposed to take 10 minutes actually took about 5 hours, but hey! I'm not complaining!!
Just glad to have my phone back in time for my hols!
Give Kudos? Sorry - I'm a (almost) septuagenarian - I struggle with the concept of a wireless phone, so need gentle advice regarding anything more advanced than 1970's technology.
Check if your phone will work correctly in the next days.
If phone will hang during use or will be slow, try to repair the firmware with PC companion
You can use the guide posted above or search on google with "pc companion firmware repair" to find more "user-friendly" guides
Remember that with repair process there is the risk to loose your data
