Phone Lag

My Sony Z1 Compact has recently started to lag, noticeably. When I open up apps there is a half second delay before the phone registers the action and when I am playing games the timing with my touch and the screen is completely off. I haven't had the phone very long, nor have a clogged the phones memory up. Just wondering if there was anything I could do?
