No message tone during downtime

When I receive text messages (from starred contacts) during downtime there is no notification tone to indicate a message has arrived.

I do receive their calls without problems + the text messages notifications appear on the lock screen. But no notification tone whatsoever...

What's wrong?

If it is silent mode,I think this is how it goes.

But I have calls/messages from starred contacts set as priority interruptions... Only the calls go throug in downtime. Messages remain silent? It doesn't make sense.

What you can try is using Hangouts for SMS instead, that seems to help. You can set that under Hangouts -> [menu] -> Settings -> SMS.

I would really prefer not to use Hangouts.

From what you're saying I assume the missing notification tone during downtime is a problem with Messaging...

This has now been investigated and will be fixed in upcoming update. Also note that updates are released at different times depending on operator and/or country. Therefore, I cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device.
