Lost photos after update...can I get them back?

Please help!  I seem to have lost alot of photos after the update Sony informed me I should do a few days ago. 

I think they must have been stored in the internal storage following the data transfer from my old Sony phone.  They were definately there until the update.   There are some very precious photos that I can no longer locate. 

Can anyone help me recover them please?  Can I reverse the update?  Would that bring them back?

I'm sorry to say this but if the pictures, music, videos, etc was on the internal storage they are gone.

Have you tried using a File Commander to see if you can find the content directly?

I just checked it out but the photos aren't there..?!  Other ones are, but not the ones I am looking for...

Any other possibilities...??

Now you know to backup everything, but there isn't a way to do so.
