Headset not Supported Problem in Xperia S

I have recently purchased Sony Xperia S smart phone and really disappointed the headphone quality which is coming along with the mobile. I was using Sony ericsson W595 earlier and the audio quality was awesome with very good bass reflex technology.

So i just purchased MH500 headset from ebay and tried to connect to my Xperia S. But it is negative. It says headphone not supported. I also tried to purchase some headset adaptor to connect my old W595 headphone with my Xperia S. But i am not finding the exact 3.5 jack in the outside market. I am fully disapponied with this.

Sony, please let me know what can i do to get the perfect headset adaptor? Whether Sony has the specific adaptor? Please suggest me which headphone adaptor brand will suitable for Xperia S 3.5 jack? So that i can purchase it from outside market to support my Xperia S 3.5 jack and connect that with my old W595 headphone? Please suggest.

Can i know which ebay seller u buy from? And the product link?
Cause im considering buying a MH-500 to suits my Xperia S (until i saw this)

I think there shouldn't be problem, because MH-500 is used in X10
And my W508 bass reflex headset are supported, but the wire are too short, i'm considering buying a 3.5mm audio jack extension too.

There are 2 types of 3.5mm audio jack

What I call 1 with 2 lines and 1 with 3 lines (See Image)

The 1 with 3 lines is for microphone for use which in this case is a phone etc

The 1 with 2 lines is a normal headphone type jack

The 1 with 2 lines will not work in a phone like the Xperia S due to different wiring so if buying a new headset etc make sure it has 3 lines on it Ground - Left channel - Right channel and Mic

Your're wrong.
3.5mm jack with either 2 or 3 lines work with xperia S.

Apple's earphone having 2 lines work on my xperia.

But 2 lines actually don't work on X8.
But xperia do. Maybe the headset is not good quality.

I haven't had any 2 line jacks work on my XS

If Apples headphone is working on your XS then it's possible the wiring is different from a standard 2 line jack

Below is the link for the seller.

As i understand this headset will fit for all 3.5 jack sony ericcsion mobiles but not for 3.5 sony mobiles as they are following iphone technology for their 3.5 jack. I already wasted my money in ebay by buying this. Please do not do that mistake.

I had already my old W595 phone headset with bass reflex tech. I purchased a headset adaptor with mic in local market and connected with my old phone headset 3.5 jack. It is working fine without any issue and able to attend the calls and enjoying the music with Bass Reflex technology. But not able identify the quality degrade.

But my suggestion is Sony has to take consideration of this and release some good quality headsets for music lovers. Because we are spending more money to purchase the andriod phones and getting disapointment for this small problem.

I don't understand why it wont work on your device.  Slightly_frowning_Face

Maybe u bought your phone early? Thinking_Face

I bought mine in September. I havent found any headset incompatible with my XS.

Anyway, u tested original MH-500 from X10? Not through eBay although its original too.
Borrow from someone having X10.

To get it to work with the Xperia S, open up the mic unit by gently separating it at the seams. In the hind side of the circuit where the solders are visible, disconnect the black wire completely and see that it does not touch other solder joints. Then switch the white and the gold colored wires. The black wire is just used for a common ground and now by swicthing up the white and gold wires we successfully switch the input pins of the mic and ground (originally the gold wire is also used for ground). solder the white and gold wires in their switched positions carefully. There, you now have the awesome audio quality of the MH500 and the mic is also now available. Put the circuit back into its casing. Enjoy!
