HD-Voice Codec via 3G

Hello everyone,

is it normal, that a Sony Xperia Z2 Mobile do not support HD-Voice Codec? That is a shame, oh and btw, my Network Operator Supports HD-Voice on 3G, and I have a excellent 3G coverage , and no, I don't have issues here with my network. Well, it do not supports native videocall, but at least I expect HD-Voice calling with a premium mobile. My old Nokia C7 does it also.

You are only telling me all the time the same, but I am saying it is not so. But you so I think, do not understand my question.

This seems all a bit confusing!

The Xperia Z2 LTE-A D6543/D6503 is on a GSA-maintained list of HD-Voice compatible phones:

http://www.aeta-audio.com/fileadmin/downloads/pdf_uk/GSA_HD_voice_phones_list.pdf

The D6502 (non-LTE) variant does not seem to be on this list - is that the one that you have?

Also, I know that you said that Vodafone told you the phone is not supported, but Vodafone is advertising in some parts of the world that the Z2 is HD-Voice compatible, e.g.

http://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/mobileDetails.jsp?skuId=sku90038

http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/contracts-and-deals/sony-xperia-z2/sku79728-white (see "Specifications" tab)

Not sure what the issue is - but your best bet to get clarity is via Sony, or ask Vodafone in your country why they are advertising in UK/NZ (and maybe elsewhere) that the phone is HD-Voice compatible if they now claim it is not...

If Vodafone in Germany is insisting the Z2 does not do HD Voice then you might ask them to read their own blog:

http://blog.vodafone.de/testberichte/das-sony-xperia-z2-im-test/

It includes the line: "Dank Unterstützung von LTE Category 4 und HD-Voice überträgt das Xperia Z2 Daten mit bis zu 150 Megabit pro Sekunde und führt Gespräche in glasklarer Qualität."

My German is pretty dodgy - but that would seem to suggest HD Voice support to me!
