Hard Reset Xperia and Format MicroSD Card

When I installed the NotesTraveller to access company's email and calendar - the security settings is updated so the phone will be (hard) reseted automatically when someone entere wrong PIN 5 times consecutively. Put the in the trousure's pocket is my bad habbit which caused the phone resetted for at least 5 times during last 12 months (wrong pins could be accidentaly entered by body contacts).

Since I regularly backup the system, apps and its data to its external MicroSD; I could restore to the last backup state. However this time, when I take the phone out of my pocket; the phone was not only resetting but the data in MicroSD is also being formatted.

My question:

1. Is it possible that the MicroSD is being formated automatically by hard reset?

2. I am trying to recover the latest backup file from MicroSD that formated by the phone. What file extention that I should look for? Is it .bak file?

Your phone wont factory reset if you enter the pin wrong, unless you use PCC or Bridge to reset the device.

Indeed, the app performed factory reset when the wrong PIN entered 5x.

I am just corious if this app formats the external MicroSD as well - In the past it erased everything in internal storage only.
