fail to detect wifi connection

 i have a problem with my xperia u. i wonder why sometimes it fails to detect a wifi connection while other phones can easily detect it. plus, i have my own wifi router, but i can only managed to connect for a few seconds, then it will be disconnected automatically. i hope that someone could help me.
