External microphone for video shooting?

I wanted to ask if there is a possibiltity to use an external microphone for shooting videos?

I have an Acro S

I just tried now on a Xperia acro S running on Jelly Bean and it seems like the phone won't use the external microphone. It will still use the internal microphone for the video recordings.
