Does anyone enjoy the 4.2.2 update? Should I update?

I got the Xperia Z tablet a month ago as my first tablet device ever and enjoy it a lot, mainly using it for movies , ebooks, internet and streaming sports.

I just wanted to know if the Good out weighs the Bad in the new 4.2.2 jelly bean update?

Would it increase system performance, increase battery life, and also increase security?

I've only heard about the black bar at the top and back button being put in the middle

I use the tablet a lot and just wanna get the best out of it.  Normally I might not be concered, but every time I check my email i see the "New system update available" notification.

4.2.2 on the Xperia Z its a must, its quite smooth and fix some bugs. Its recommended to update your phone whenever possible.

I am enjoying it.

All my android devices feel the same to get around on now, which I prefer.

It's snappier, the battery life seems as good or better.

The mic volume now seems good for Skype and videos, although it is still crappy for audio memos.

It does retain the Sony mini app bar at the bottom  and I thinkthat's a brilliant feature.

Most complaints seem to focus on the new "home button group" location and the top notification bar.

I think this is subjective, as I said already, I prefer the conventional layout this update changes ours to.

All in all, I unequivocally. approve of this update.:smileywin:

I am trying to get back to 4.1:-(

the new layout of home button group and notification center isnt as convenient as perious. Dont know why sony decided to put notification and home button in center on a such large screen tablet.   Now it is impossible for anyone to use home menu or check notification with both hand holding the tablet. Its awkward.

Sony`s layout of home button and notification was the spotlight  on lots of reviews only because it enhanced customers experience on large screen tablet.

Everyone puts home button in the center since apple start to put home button in the center of bottom. But dont they ever thought about how annoying it is?  Dont get the point of letting you have to take your hand off the tablet to get home button.

Soz, im bit mad:smileylaugh:

I would very much like to go back to 4.1.2 because of the ill placed buttons, reduced screen area and text rendering problems. However in 4.1.2 I had a very unstable WiFi connection, couldn't stay connected to my home WiFi for longer than 10 minutes before it dropped connection. This at least is now completely fixed, steady connection both 2,4 and 5 GHz...

I'm very disappointed with this update. New places of buttons do not bother me, but :

- The battery is draining faster than with 4.1,

- I need to make 3 or 4 attemps before being able to connect with Miracast screen mirroring to my TV (it tooks only one attempt and 10 seconds max with 4.1).

- Mirroring still dfisables wifi connection . With my galaxy S3, both are able to work together.

- Photo gallery (album) is still crappy (no way to sort files by name).

I will not be updating anytime soon. I am hoping that Sony will release another update that will push the navigation buttons back to the bottom left corner. That was one of the reasons why I chose an XTZ over a Nexus 10. Also I have not experienced too many issues with 4.1.2. As for the update centre notification I just went into the app and disabled all notifications from the in-app settings. I then force quit the update centre app from the android app manager. Now I no longer see the update listed in the notification area until I reopen and refresh the update centre app.
