If you connect the phone to a computer, can you see the files?
Try clearing the cache and data for those affected apps via Settings then Apps and swipe to All then locate and open said apps and clear the mentioned items then reboot and test

Perhaps you could clear data for the Media Storage application. This will make the phone rescan all the media files in your phone and hopefully they will show up again. You can find Media Storage via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Media Storage > Clear data. When this is done, restart the phone and the media files will be rescanned automatically.
Note that, if you have a lot of media files it can take a longer time before they appear.
