My faithful and reliable Elm has died or almost died. I can turn it on, but it only shows the SE logo and occasionally a white screen. However it will allow me to access files as if it was a USB-stick when I connect it to the PC.
So I have access to the phones memory. Is there a way to recover contacts, messages and calender this way?
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I'm sorry to hear about your phone. You will need to get a connection to PC Companion to be able to get your contacts, calendar and messaging data:

The phone also needs to be connected in 'phone mode' for PC Companion to be able to see your contacts, calendar and messaging data. Unfortunately it sounds like your phone is connected in 'mass storage mode' from your description above but I advice you to try to connect to PC Companion.
Hi and thank you.
I have tried pc-companion, but unfortunately you are right; I can only connect in the "mass storage mode". The phone will not turn on otherwise. Actually it only turns on when I plug in the USB-cable and connect to the pc. :'(
