Dead display Xperia Z2

Hi everyone, I own the white model of the xperia Z2 now for 3 days and decided to try the waterproof ability. I pour a full cup of water to test the waterproof ability and it works just fine. a few hours later, I found out that some of the water got in because I can see some condensation on the camera lenses both front and back. Another few hours later I found out that the screen starts to flicker and by the next day the screen dies. All other functionality such as the sound and the touch screen still works because I can hear noises when I touched randomly on my black screen, only the display is dead.

I decided to return my phone to the store where I bought the handpiece adn they said I have to wait 10-14 days because they are going to return it to Sony. I have to say I was disappointed because I was looking forward to enjoying this phone.

Is this related to the faulty white model where on the top right of the phone has a small gap? any comments?

Hi,

I own the white model as well and I just had the same problem when testing its waterproofness. There is a very small gap on the top right of my screen as well. I figured it was better to find out early. I made sure my phone was firmly closed and I submerged under tap water for less than five minutes. Less than an hour after that my screen was completely black. When I restart the phone it just flickers for the first frames and then goes black again. The phone seems to work fine apart from the screen.

Thanks for the official reply Johan. Hope Sony would fix this problem soon. Because my stay in Germany will finish in two months and I don't want to wait longer than my stay.

After I realised the screen was water damaged I sent my phone in for repairs (covered by warranty) and now I got it back in a working state with a new display. I want to test the repaired phone in water as well but I am not ready to be away from it more weeks yet.

I was away on vacation in Paris for two weeks and the phone got sent back to me the day after I left, that's why my reply is so late.
