Crashing exiting apps post Lollipop update

Since updating my tablet to 5.0 my tablet have a tendency to crash when existing an app. The screen goes black apart from the home button (and associated buttons). This is most prevelant with Chrome but it does do it with settings and other standard apps. Any advice would be much appreciated

Does it happen while on safe mode?

This is due to the high memory use,chrome is a killer like facebook and some others. The phone will refresh RAM memory.
