Backing up Z3 Compact for repair

Hi,

I'm about to send my Z3 Compact away for repair after it vibrated itself off the kitchen worktop when it rang and landed on the floor cracking the back. The unsurance company have not said whether they will repair or replace the phone so I am backing it up. I've used PC companion's back up feature but I am concerned that if they replace the phone I will not be able to restore my data to the new phone.

Is there anyway to ensure that a backup can be restored to a different phone?

In most cases you can use the backed up data on a new device, however if the android version is to high there will be some data that wont move across.
