Acore process has stopped

I keep on having the above message pop up on my SP. 

It affects most of the functions, my camera ceases to save pics, apps don't work and occasionally all functionality of the phone is suspended (was left standing in road with phone ringing loadly and unable to even switch phone off)

This is really spoiling what was previously a reasonable phone.

Have read suggestions to factory reset but don't really want to lose all my data. Can anyone make suggestions?

This fault still occurs in Safe Mode

Yes, this does mean you will lose data from the handset, if the handset can be turned on you should be able to backup the data.

With all the information you have provided so far, I do not believe there is going to be any other option i'm afraid.
