So I recently bought the WH-CH510 Sony wireless with mic headphones and to my surprise I found I could here my voice as well as many other surrounding sounds very loud through the headphones. Through some research it seems this is actually an intentional feature called "side tone". Apparently some people like this feature however I as well as many others find it annoying:

I guess there's nothing I can do about it now that I have already bought the headphones but I was just hoping that someone from Sony could provide an explanation as to why such an unpopular feature would be intentionally implemented? Or why did Sony not at least make it possible to disable for the people who don't want it?
Also, can I expect the same volume of side tone using any other headphones I get from Sony and is it not possible to disable on those either?
According to Sony support, this is not a malfunction.

yh I mentioned that I know it is intentional in my question. My question was why would Sony do this? I think you should read the details of the questions to make it more clear
Hey, you can deliver your feedback directly to Sony: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact?pdp=kd-65xe9305&cat=lcd-tvs-android-xe93xx_x93xxe_...
I'm sure they can help you with your original question.
Hello,
Have you found out an answer for the echo problem? I've just bought a pair of WH-CH510 and when I'm in a call I can hear my self and the surrounding noises.
Hey guys, the functions can't be disabled what so ever I'm afraid.
