I currently have Windows XP installed on my VGN-AR21S laptop. I recently ran the Windows 7 adviser to see what issues they might be. The showstopper for me, seemed to be that my web cam was not compatible with Windows 7. It also did not give any indication as to whether there was a workaround. When I bought my laptop it was the top of the range, now it seems that I will have problems moving to Windows 7 and have therefore not done so. Is there anyone out there who can advise me, whether I am overreacting. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who owns a VGN-AR21S laptop and has installed Windows 7 so that they could advise me of any issues that they encountered.
Hi billbirchall,
Someone on here has but afraid I can't remember his name. I took a copy of the text in case it would have been any help to me and my Vaio (VGN-AR21M) but deleted it couple of days ago.......luckily enough I didn't empty recycle bin so here is his message:
"ar21s and windows 7 working perfect!!!!
i would just like to let everyone know i have an ar21s and ive just installed windows 7 and its works great, its a very nice operating system.
i installed it to a spare sata hard drive just to see how it went, just install it as you would any other windows software and install all the vista drivers in the download section.
you need to install the original windows xp web cam driver to get this working, then get the latest version of the "bluetooth stack" from the toshiba web site, and thats it, all sorted and up and running.
im running win7 ultimate. had a few problems with the hdmi out to my t.v but found the answer on here and that is working spot on to now.
i dont know why sony could not have done a driver pack on the win7 tab of the drivers, seams a very poor service for people who spent over 2k on a laptop with them 3 years ago".
Maybe the original author will see your request and offer some help
Hope it helps
Vic
Hi Vic
Thanks for that, it is a relief. I totally agree with your comment about poor service.
