Vista Help Plzz

hi,
i've got 2 question about vista and my laptop

first of all i've got a sony vaio FJ1S
and would like to know if i install vista ultimate will i be able to get the
vista aero features??

2nd question

if do a clean install of vista from the cd i have, if i get a problem with my laptop
can i use the recovery cd's i made when i was in xp??

1) You can run Aero if you have atlease 1gb RAM (Recommended 1.5Gb) and atleast 128Mb Graphics. These two things normally let you down in a Laptop

2) Yes you can use recovery cd's to return to the default Windows Xp installation, but i recommend installing Vista on the second partition and then u get a choise when booting up to choose between whichever you like. and if u dont like vista or if its slow then u can uninstall it an u still have your backup installation of XP to fall back on

Hi h901,

Your Vaio has the Intel 915GM chipset with the Graphics Media Accelerator 900 incorporated.

Although this does have 128MB of shared graphics memory (and your FJ1S can take up to 2048MB of RAM), I don't think the GMA900 is Vista capable and cannot run Aero.

Try Googling the Intel site for more information.

atm i've got 1gb of ram so i think im ok there
but i've got to search intels site regarding aero as i dnt really want vista unless
i can get the fancy effect that aero offers.
