Despite the blurb on this website "VAIO notebooks ALL come complete with a built-in camera for more effective communications....", mine definately does not! Trade's description act?!! Mine's the Vaio VGN C1/P, a wonderful little pink thing. I'm thinking about about acquiring a web cam but would appreciate some advice on chosing the most appropriate. Also, I have [at last] received the Vista update CDs but am more than a little apprehensive about upgrading at the moment. I'm quite happy with XP and only got the upgrade because it was free [NOT!], and again would appreciate some advice. Many thanks, guys

Not really sure about the webcams but something that is VGA (640x480) should be all you need. You might consider one with a microphone in built as your model doesn't incorporate one internally.
As for the Vista upgrade, if you are happy with XP and everything is runnong fine leave it for now and wait for service pack 1. This will fix some of the more major issues with Vista and will save you from having to deal with them. A release date for sp1 has not been anounced yet but i am sure someone will anounce it soon.
This is the kind of webcam i would recomend
