Vaio S2XP fan runs even with lowest performance settings

Hello,

I've got a question concerning my Sony Vaio S2XP Notebook. Since I use it mostly for Office applications I'm really a little bit annoyed that the fan runs steadily. Even with the lowest performance and battery friendly settings the fan keeps running.

Has anybody the same expiriences? Is it maybe supposed to be like that?

Looking forward to your answers

Sebastian

Well i had tosiba laptop which had a much better software to control the fan and i wish sony did that as well. Plus the fan would span faster if to hot or another fan would come on which bets sony laptop any day on fan control.

Kee Lo, thanks for your interesting contributes, but it seems as if you were more interested in collecting counts for your sony forum status...
A more constructive comment would be more helpful!

Ok, seems as if we had to wait for a better software tool to control the fan. I can't imagine, that the CPU would be destroyed with a temperature higher than 40 degrees and without cooling. It's funny that the fan temperature varies between 40 and 41 degrees most of the time (with battery save use), and that exactly at 41 degrees the fan turns on...
It would make sense to fix the limit at 43 degrees, than it would be ensured that the fan wouldn't run all the time during "soft" use.

The reason the CPU is always between 41 and 40 degrees is because the fan turns on at 41..

I don't think it raising the limit to 43 will do the trick, the CPU will reach that temperature as well without active cooling.

The best solution, imo, would be if the "on" and "off" temperature could be controlled independantly.

I think not, and if I could help I would.
I can't tell Sony what to do, I am just a volanteer, but if I say that maybe they'll read it and research, so it does help.
