Vaio FE31H self boots randomly after installing vista

After upgrading to Windows Vista using a clean install, my Vaio FE31H laptop runs nicely, that is until i hibernate the laptop. It randomly boots again, sometimes after 1 or 2 mins, sometimes 20 mins later, sometimes on ac power and others on battery power. I have been searching the internet for others with the same problem but there are only a few other cases i'v found. Does anyone know whats causing this and how it can be fixed? Im getting really annoyed when i pick up my laptop and the battery is flat because it booted itself!

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony and welcome to the forum.

The first thing to check is your power management settings for the network adaptor.

Device manager > Network Adaptors. Right click the relevant adaptor and select Properties. On the Power Management tab make sure that all options are unchecked.

You could also check Task Scheduler (Control Panel > Administrative Tools)for anything that may bring the computer out of hibernation but finding the culprit will prove difficult.

Do you have anything like TVTV on there? Sometimes it boots to get the latest EPG for your media centre.

Thanks guys, i looked at the network adapters and its none of them, but on looking through the task scheduler i found a task called TMM under MobilePC which under its conditions was checked to wake the computer to do the task. I have unchecked this and hopefully will solve the mysterious wake ups and flat batteries i end up with.

Thanks for your help, i will get back on whether it fixes the problem or not

Sounds like it's a syncronisation tool that gets your latest contacts off the PDA/BB/SmartPhone
