Trying to use my integrated camera on my VAIO..

I have a VAIO VGN-CR11S and am trying to use skype, but when i ask to use the integrated camera with it, it says it is being used by different software. If i just do the normal capture setting, this also does not work and says "An attempt to initialize the camera failed, please check if another software is using the camera"... of course i have ensured that i have got anything else that may be using it closed, but the problem persists. Is there anyway i can see what software it thinks is using the camera?

Hi katbloom and welcome to Club Vaio.

This is a known problem and we have been waiting for a solution for some time.

The only temporary solution I know of is to disable Vista’s UAC. I should point out that UAC is a security feature incorporated into Vista and disabling this may make your Vaio a little less secure. This has to be your choice but it will probably fix the camera!

To disable User Account Control: -

Press the Windows key on the left of your keyboard and press R

Type in the command
MSCONFIG
and press OK -> Continue.

Open the Tab “Tools” and scroll down to ‘Disable UAC’ and click Launch. At the black screen, click OK and restart your Vaio.
