I bought this vgn-a215m model last week with no cd's, the recovery stuff is in the notebook itself. I mean WAS..untill I did a format and made seperate partitions. So the recovery stuff is gone. Now my question is..I have the recovery cd's for the "VGN-A-100" series..those are 2 cd's. Can I use those to put my notebook in original state? Ofcourse I know the drivers wont work but thats no problem the Drivers a already have.
So?
They didn't come with that PC though did they?
Therefore they won't work.
so that means I have to buy the original cds for 70 euros..which I dont need but just in case.
Yep
ouch!.. you didnt burn out a backup copies of the recovery partition?
no I didnt..I turned it on, it started to install for a long time..after the install I let my cousin make the partitions and I went to setup the router and he said that it is lost and he couldnt make a copy of it because it was on an invisible kinda parition..that is what he said..?
I mean is it a big problem? I got my own windows cd's and drivers I have..it works fine like this..is it really a MUST to have the cd's?
Yeah it's a must, as a lot of specific Sony stuff is on them.
Also you won't have their software.
But he can still download the drivers from the sony support page. I hat also deleted my drivers and utillities from the hard disk drive. All the drivers are working fine now, only the sound card drivers was problem, but i google it ...
maybe it wont recognize your laptop as Vaio anymore.:smileyconfused: if you dont use the original recovery disc.
Nope, I have burn my own Windows Setup CD from the recoverey DVD with this manual . It was only the OS on the CD. I must reeinstalled all drivers and utilities, without any problems.
I have tried Sonicstage and PictureGear, no problems. The only problem was, I couldn't install any software from the recovery DVD.
