My 60gb hard drive is nearly full, and I am thinking of replacing it with 120gb drive(after cloning it first). Is this a simple task on the VGN-S3HP? I have changed hard drive on a samsung laptop recently but can't find any info on how to do it on the VGN-S3HP.
any info would be appreciated.

Hi wmac,
Sony VAIO S Series Upgrade Guides (pics)
I hope this helps.
Hi rich 912,
many thanks that helps a lot, but raises one question, which is do I order a sata or an ata 100 hard drive?
As my vgn s3hp is nearly 2 years old i suspect it might be an ata 100. also I had the problem with function keys not working but sorted it with the viao update.
thanks again
wmac
Rich,
have checked the harddrive model # in control panel then gone to manufactures web site and found out its a sata drive. so will now look for new drive. :smileysmug:
cheers

Hi wmac,
A Google suggests that you have a Serial ATA hard drive.
Once extracted you should find a reference on the drive that will provide definitive information.
EDIT: Our post crossed...
Rich,
Have replaced the drive with a 200gb Toshiba drive took about 1 1/2 hours including using paragon hard drive manager to copy old drive to new drive in external HD case. laptop booted up first time and old HD is now an external 60gb drive in the HD case. thanks again for your assistance.
