Removing un-needed rubbish ?

Greetings again to everyone !!
Andy back again, and still happy as a pig in a pen with my FX 701 after you guys helped me out with my freeze up problems, not single problem since the bios upgrade (that's gotta have been about 9 months ago now)!!

Right... what Im interested in now is, is there a safe way to remove all the deritus left behind by SP 2 after the upgrade ?

I remember hearing somewhere that after upgrading there is 100's of mega bytes of un-required backed up files just sitting there wasting valuable disc space. ?

Any clues that could be helpful please ?

Regards,

Andy.

(Appoligies if this has been covered before or elsewhere....if so I have not found it on this forum yet)

Hi Andy,

This Microsoft guide tells you how to do it.

Thanks for your reply Rich, I had a look at the page that you supplied the link to.
Its starts straight forward enough but then sounds a little daunting with the references to losing file paths etc, BUT.. I will study the guide in detail and see if I feel brave enough to go it alone.

I hope you won't mind if I come back to the forum if there is anything I don't understand !! or just a final word telling me that (whatever I am just about to do is safe) if that makes sense to you ?

Kind regards for now,

Andy

Hi Andy,

Good luck with that. Don't forget that before doing anything, back up your registry and create a restore point.
