Computer: Sony Vaio La1
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Okay, I use an antenna type aerial with my Vaio, it has to be plugged into the mains. Earlier while the computer was on the aerial was turned off at the mains, I then installed Windows Media Player 11. I then tried to use my Vaio's Media Center program for TV, and it did not work, coming up with 'Video Error' at the bottom left. I thought it might be WMP 11, so I installed 10 again via the standard uninstall method. I then tried the TV again and the same error occured. I tried to change my tv settings and it said 'the TV Tuner Hardware may be malfunctioning or not installed. Please ensure that both the tuner hardware and driver are properly installed'
I cannot get it to work again, can anyone help? What would have caused the problem and how can I fix it?
Thanks.
Welcome to the club, Do a system restore to a time before you lost media center. Quite often when you install media player and you don't customise the default player settings it will attempt to play all media. When installing media player 11 make sure you untag most of the default management and leave media center as the default except of course music to enjoy the superior functionality of MP 11.

Have installed a competing program like Tune Up utilities that has it's own system restore? If so use the last program you installed to do a system restore back to when the media center was working...otherwise I'm afraid its the long reformat road for you
