After I leave the computer on hibernate/stand-by for a long time when I come back, in the 'notification area' on the taskbar, it has the internet disconnected symbol twice. Then when I go on the internet, it connects really slowly and then sometimes crashes or locks up. I have to restart for it to go back to normal. Why is this happening?
Thanks again.
Which VAIO do you have? Which OS too
I have a wireless link to an ISP. I have the same problem after hibernation but disconnecting the power to the modem and reconnecting usually clears the fault. Blackcat

Sorry to double post but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Cheers.
!!! My first comment in the forum !!!
Hi all,
I have nearly the same problem on my vaio VGX XL-201, Win XP sp2 (bought 06/2007):
After hibernation (manually) or after some idle time it happens that the wireless connection is gone after waking up. Allthough I configured my WLAN to automatically connect to the net, it does not try after wake up (guess it thins it is allready connected). So I have to manually go to the wlan network list (double click on the taskbar icon) and click on the 'Connect' button.
Who can help
I would be happy to get a solution that does connect automatically.
disable the automatic updates and see if the problem continues. maybe a particular update is responsible
Thanks. I disabled auto update and I still have the problem...
I started to go through the updates, but 50+ is far too much to check.
I also disabled energy saving for the wlan interface - no success.
Further hints are welcome 😉
