Lads/lasses - on my new A317M I occasionally get the following message upon turning on the machine (after bios/vaio screen but before windows splash screen which doesn't appear at all)
"UNABLE TO BOOT FROM BOOT MEDIA. INSERT CORRECT MEDIA AND PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE"
If I press enter or any other key the message just repeats itself.
If I press CTRL-ALT-DEL the laptop reboots and then always successfully boots into Windows XP but this is really frustrating.
I have gone into BIOS and reset everything to factory default as I only noticed the problem after performing the recommended upgrades on the vaio site which included media server 4 (which I was blaming and so disabled) but this has made no difference.
Also just to add to the confusion, it doesn't happen every time I start the laptop and I can't say that I have been doing anything particular on the laptop prior to shutting it down and then restarting it.
The only thing I can say is that it does seem to happen from a cold start rather than a restart from within windows - although I could be wrong about this!!!
Please help!
Cheers
Rick
