Have you upgraded your VP's firmware?
could be a corrupted/damaged file. does it freeze on the same photo every time? can you view the photos in the photo viewer?
corrupted files dont get shown at all,you just get a fixed image by sony with something like a cracked file and it says it cannot view picture or something like that!
it could be because of that actually, never happened to me though.
why dont you try copying the files again and see if it makes any changes or spot the file that stops the slideshow, delete it and then check if it keeps on freezing!
hmm, i'm not sure, i thought the cracked imae was just for images it couldn't display for whatever reason. mine certainly used to crash when it tried to play corrupt mp3s. it would start to play, but a corrupted frame or somthing would cause it to crash till i reset it, i'm just thinking it could be that with an image. if it's the same image every time then that would suggest it could be corrupted.
um apart from the problem how can you tranfer corrupted files?
ss wouldnt recognize it and vaio transfer would have problems with it...
anyway about the pic problem, spot the corrupted one and make sure it is ok when you transfer it again[you can open it with mspaint and then do"save as" in jpg form so that the file is recognized:smileywink: ]
i don't know quite what went wrong with the files, i transferred them from one laptop to another with my ipod (i was just trying to back them up) and something went wrong with them. when playing the tracks through itunes they sounded like they were skipping, or it would just start making a horrible noise, but didn't crash. this only happened in specific points on certain tracks, the rest would play fine. as i understand it mp3s consist of a sequence of frames, like a film, and i think that during file transfer my ipod had damaged some of the frames. the result of this was that these mp3s would cause both my ipod and VP to crash at the point they envountered a corrup frame. sorry if i haven't explained that very clearly!
no dont worry i got your point although i dont understand why the ipod would do that!
well if you had an ipod already why woul you get yourself a vp?
i mean isnt the ipod enough?you mentioned in the past that you dont use the photo viewer so i guess that colour screen wasnt the reason why you got it!:smileyconfused:
cos the ipod's awful
i bought a first gen 5gb ipod about 2 years ago and it's broken twice before it's bout of corrupting files. also, being a 5gb version it only holds about 1/3rd of my music, and i just think the ipod is terrible. i seem to be fairly isolated in these views though, just because it's become an icon. people have told me the new ones are better, saying 'well you'd expect the build quality to improve'. personally i think that's rubbish, features etc. should improve, not the build quality! even the apple shop didn't argue with me over that...
rant over (that's a very much shortened version though :smileytongue:)
well you are right indeed i just thought you would have a 4th gen 40 gig ipod or and ipod photo and thought why would you buy an extra mp3 player?!
but you are right in what you say...although the features and the accessories of the ipod are really better considering open 3rd party building and the ability of playing games!plus it plays back REAL mp3s
