Couple more questions on A217M

1) I'd like to install windows XP pro at some point (I'm doing development work on this notebook). Is this possible, and can I download the drivers separately, or do I need to download the original driver package from the link website? Obviously I'd like all the required drivers, for the touchpad, advanced power options etc.

2) The DVD drive will not eject until the PC has booted into windows - is this normal?

TIA

Si

The drivers are only available in the Utilities package, but since you want them all anyway I'm not sure what difference it makes? It may already be in your C:\Utils directory if you haven't wiped it off yet.

Not sure about the DVD drive button, sometimes it's operated via software loaded into Windows, but I'm positive it should work without as well. Otherwise how do you get a boot disk in when Windows won't start?

Really? Ok so re: MY question, how are you supposed to get a boot disk in when Windows won't start?

That's exactly what I was thinking... could use the manual open thing, I suppose (the pinhole o the front of the drive).

(the pinhole o the front of the drive).

Works well but do this sparingly as you could cause unnecessary wear and tear on the DVD eject mechanism. Emergencies are fine though:smileywink:

Tyger, as a lot of A series users have said you have to use a pin to open it.
