Card Reader Problem on VPCEC2S0E

When you insert a SD card the light flashes temporarily next to the card reader but nothing appears on the screen and the drive can't bee seen within explorer.

Hi ssstone,

Is the device present in Device Manager, under Disk Drives? If no, do you have any unknown devices listed?

Hi ssstone,

Have you tried more than one SD card to check that it is not the card itself that is faulty? However, if the drive is not present in Explorer I doubt that this is the problem.

Otherwise try reinstalling the driver from within Device Manager using the ‘Have Disk’ method.

You may find the Memory Card Reader Writer Driver (Ricoh) (SD) 6.13X64_E - 6.13.2.6 driver folder at C:\Drivers otherwise download it from the following location.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VPCEC2S0E_WI/updates

Then:

Extract the files from the installation package to a known location.

Click Start > Control Panel.

Double click Device Manager.

Right click the device and select Properties

Click the Driver tab.

Click Update Driver.

Click Browse my computer for driver software.

Click Let me pick from a list...

Click Have Disk....

Click Browse and navigate to the folder where you placed the extracted files.

Click OK.

Click Next.

Click Finish.

Reboot your system if requested.

If this fails to work then uninstall the device in Device Manager, reboot and let windows reinstall the drivers.

You should also check whether there is a drive letter assignment conflict – possibly with a mapped drive (if you have any).

If nothing above works then shut down, remove the AC adaptor and battery. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Re-attach the power adaptor and battery and reboot.
