Attention VGN-FZ21Z users and SONY!! Problem with Sound Card

I am having problems with my sound card. It can not be found and I get the Error Message: “This device cannot start. (Code 10)”

Has anyone had simmilar problems?

Any suggestions to fix it?

Hi George and welcome.

“This device cannot start. (Code 10)” usually means that you have a bad, missing, or incompatible device driver. This may be the result of installing other audio devices.

Open Device Manager and look for the device – it may be listed under Sound, Video and Game Controllers (with a yellow warning triangle) or as an Unknown Device.

Right click the device and select Update Driver.

Select ‘Browse my Computer....’

Next ‘Let me Pick from a List...’

Click ‘Have Disk’ and browse to the location of your Audio drivers – possibly C:\Drivers\Audio. If not you can download from the Support site – click Support at the top of this page.

Select the Setup.ini file and continue. Hopefully this will install the correct drivers...
