I'd *love* to know what DLNA means. Don't remember seeing it mentioned in any of the documentation!
It's just a standard to say the machine is top notch, like a "Which?" sticker.
DLNA is a group of companies including sony that create different standards for computing amongst other things.
Read all about it here .

Thanks Matt, I had forgot what DLNA stands for:
Digital Living Network Alliance.
I've read that.. but what about in practice ?
I have found that VAIO MEDIA is able to recognize my NAS (Synology)and play what's inside.
But what's different than mapping the NAS folder and listening it from Winamp ???
I look further to find what's more
VAIO media was designed so that you can stream music and video from a server.
Mainly its for people with the sony tv slinger (can't remember what its actually called) so you can watch tv somewhere else in the house.
If you can access it from winamp then there is no difference whatsoever.

VAIO Media only reads what's inside it's folders, it will not read from a NAS, mainly due to the way it was programed and the fact it uses an active database.
I do not agree.
My Vaio Media has directly seen my NAS, as a new server.
After accepted that new connection, I'm able to browse all media on my NAS. That's quite cool, except that the resolution of my pictures is very low ...
Interesting, maybe they finally changed it.
