A big file on the system partition

Hi,

I wonder whats that big 2 GB file on my system partition. I never saw a big file like this on other XP systems (at least I can't remember I did). It's called 'Dateien' which means 'FIles' on German.
Does anyone here have an idea what this file is about?

I am not sure about this, but depending on how much space is allocated for system restore at least 2GB could be taken up by a number of restore points.

If you are confident that your system is stable you could try deleting all but the most recent restore point & see if this reduces the file size. In My Computer right click on the drive, select Properties > Disk Cleanup > More Options > System Restore > Clean Up.

You can do this for each drive and free up a huge amount of disk space.
