IMX500.JPG

Sony’s IMX500 image sensors with AI processing functionality are at the core of three smart city trials being run by Sony’s partners DPControl (Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence on Edge), Spark (HW Integrator), Envision (SW Platform), and Citelum (System Integrator), in the municipality of Rome. These are intended to cut the city’s transport-related pollution and accidents at pedestrian crossings.

With this technology, we can provide1:

  • SMART PARKING reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

Using sensors, drivers will be alerted to available parking spaces.

  • SMART PEDESTRIAN CROSSING reducing accidents on the road.

Drivers are alerted of pedestrians crossing the road, even at night, thanks to Sony’s IMX500 in combination with Dynamic Lighting.

  • SMART BUS STOP supporting public transport planning.

For instance, if a bus has capacity for two more passengers but three are waiting at a bus stop, despatchers can put another bus on the road.

Sony’s IMX500 image sensor is the world’s first intelligent vision sensor2 with AI real time processing.

  • No images are recorded, with metadata output only, addressing privacy concerns.
  • It’s ultra-low power, low bandwidth, and low latency.
  • It features high performance, neural networks on edge, and dynamic AI update.
