Xperia C5 Ultra Sudden Death

This is not going to be a complaint but more like a story, probably an episodic story, about how I was browsing this forum and reading how a fellow user had issues with the sudden death of his/her phone when, all of a sudden... vibration, power off. Dead.

AH!!! Hilarious!

A bit of history: Sunday, I woke up unexpectedly earlier and after breakfast I browsed few posts here and there while the phone was connected to the charger. Then I moved in the living room and brought my phone with me, obviously disconnected.

One of my faved site is exactly this forum, and while I was with screen on and, as I said in the prologue, reading a post about sudden death and thinking on a possible way to fix the issue, while initially I felt like a weird lag, so I swiped down the notification bar to check the battery level (because the phone slow down automatically when the battery level reach more or less 20 to 25%, but it was 92%, I closed the notification bar, I thought "uhm, proably nothing", scrolled down the page I was reading to start typing an answer and then... again, vibration, power off. Dead.

Prognosis, the phone is not turning on. Just vibrate briefly, and then nothing. Tried everything. Not reviving.. so, now the phone is sitting on my nightstand with a bright red led while it try to charge the battery. Curiously, after I connected the charger the screen lite up showing me a wonderful 0% battery indicator and then like if it's charging...

To be continued... will it power on, like in 15 minutes?

Update 1: The phone powered on automatically, just after 2 minutes I posted this story. Battery level indicate 6% battery, notification led is bright red and it state it will need about 3 hours to fully recharge the battery.

I am going to see what can be the issue and no, I haven't upgraded to 6.0.

To be continued... what provoked this?

Update 2: The phone is fine, charging really fast. It's already at 30% - battery usage logs are gone so there is no way to know what provoked the issue.

... my only doubt is that the "battery" in reality was not totally discharged, it never been that fast to recharge.

To be continued...

Update 3: Interestingly enough, the phone was few minutes ago at 50%... it is now at 29%... now that is weird... hahahaha!

Update 3.1: Doing a backup of my data with XC.. you never know.. ehehe...

Just after 1 minute or so that I checked the battery level, at 53%, the phone rebooted by itself. This time there was a notification on screen but I was too lazy to read it so I am not sure what it was. However it was like a pointing down arror near a phone.

Ok something weird is happening, the issue is "apparently" related to the SD card and the fact that the storage is now at more than 75% full.. not sure what's going on but I don't really want to do the software repair haha...

I'll let you know what is going on here...

Ok everything is fixed, not sure what went wrong but a software repair was not necessary. I'll try for few days to see if the problem present itself again, hopefully no.

Thanks for keeping us updated. By the way, which phone are you using? And after how many months of usage did this problem occur?

MasterCedric this issue is happened after 9 months that I bought the device. After a marshmallow update (unwanted and caused by the software repair) I am not using the C5 but relaying to my Z3c and a Nextbit Robin (I was a Kickstarter Backer) because the C5 is suffering many issues with Bluetooth and WiFi that occur only if I have whatever Sim card inserted (tried 6, no matter 2 software repair and what else, it is not working properly).

I am planning this weekend to try again and capture a log to send it to @Christofer as feedback.

I had the shock of my life Anguished_Face

While reading your reply on this thread, my C5 turned off suddenly. I came to the conclusion that this thread may be cursed or something like that Thinking_Face Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

I plugged in USB port of laptop, nothing happened.

I plugged in the combo port eSATA/USB charging port of laptop, again nothing happened.

I plugged directly on wall socket, again no sign of life.

*No display (black), no LED light, no vibration.

:smileyshhh: :smileyd_oh:

Then, I came across this old post on Smart Mobile Phone Solutions website , tried their steps and I was able to successfully restart the phone. I felt it vibrate one time, I released the button, and I saw the starting Sony logo.
