Hi All,
I have about 5 days to fix an issue before I return my new Bravia 4k TV for a refund! I'm hoping someone can help as I like the TV otherwise...
Situation:
I have a NAS drive on my local network (WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra) with DLNA enabled. I use this to view family photo albums and videos on various devices attached to my home network.
Issue:
My TV recognises and "sees" my attached NAS storage device no problem but when using the pre-installed "Media Player" app, I select to view photos but it takes an age to actually display the folders - just get the spinning blue circle for about 90 seconds before it eventually displays. Once eventually in, its fine and functions as I would expect but the delay makes it so unusable.
I can access the NAS with no issues at all on two other smart TVs in the house and on the same network so I am convinced this is nothing to do with the network or NAS device. Its almost like the Bravia is indexing the whole drive every time it tries to access it - its that slow.
Nothing I can see in the TV settings can resolve this and I've tried all the usual stuff like clearing the TV cache and doing a factory reset etc but no luck. I've also tried a different media player app from the Android store but the same thing happens - really slow to access the NAS folders.
Would be grateful if anyone could help before I reluctantly have to return the TV as this use was one of the main reasons for purchase.
PS Sony support have been unable to help and suggested it was "just a limitation with the TV" - considering the other smart TVs in my house are about 5 years older and cost a third of the price I'd be very disappointed if that was the case.
Thanks in advance,
GJ
I totally agree with you👍 when I connect my NAS to the TV via Wi-Fi. it takes quite a time to display the folders. my main issue is that if i remove or Add a picture to an Album it will not update on the Sony TV ..🙄 I have cleared the cache and restarted the Album App but the same pictures remain in the Album. I thought it was my NAS holding the picture..But its not it's the TV . I cannot see any setting to clear the Album.. the only way it sometimes updates. Is if I go into the Video App and then back to Albums App, then it sometimes updates the pictures in the Album. Very poor of sony . but my tv is 3 years old so no chance of returning it...😪 I have used android PhotoGuru which works well until it drops the NAS and then I have to reset the NAS to get it running again. Very frustrating... won't buy sony again .....
Have you tried the VLC app for media streaming? Also make sure to update the firmware to the latest one v6.7140 using the link here: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/downloads/00017076.
HI thanks for the info. 👍I have updated the firmware to v6.7140 using the USB option to install all when well.👍 But the Media App player Video will not play the videos from the NAS.😩 it just crashes and goes back to the home screen.😱 The Media Albums STILL take two minutes to display my Album folders "Music & Photos" 🕰 .. DO sony test the software ???🤔 I have tried VLC app but that drops the NAS after a while and won't display all my pictures. As I said in my first post if I delete an Album from the NAS it still shows on the tv screen using the Sony Media App👹. The TV must be holding the first upload from the NAS .. I have cleared the cache and reset Media app .. but still my deleted Album shows on the tv. BUT not on the PhotoGURU App this App still losers the NAS connection after 60 pictures ... very frustrating.. the only improvement i like in the Media Photo App is that you can now make it full screen.. but the two plus minutes to load 10 photos Albums is far to long the VLC & Photoguru take 5 seconds... HELP SONY 😱
Sony Tv Issue After many hours💤 of messing about with my Qnap TS259 server & Sony Brava android TV KD-49XE8004
My finding.🤔
The Sony Multimedia App Indexes all the files on the NAS server that are available via DLNA. If I change a Photo, Music, Video file on the NAS server the Sony Multimedia App cannot see this because it’s already index all the files and refuses to re-index. The only way I can get it to Re Index is to change the NAS Server static IP address and this forces the Sony Multimedia App to re index and load the new files🙄 so that they can be Viewed. All other Android Apps seem to see the change on the NAS server straight away.👍 I have tried clearing all the Sony Multimedia Cache and force the App to stop & Restart but it still won’t see the changes on the NAS server unless I change the IP address…😖 Is there any way in the Android Developer console I can change these setting? Or will I have to use a third-party app to view my Photos. Anyone else have this issue ????😮
Hi, I would say try a factory reset, it seems like the TV is glitching with the DLNA.
