I am looking to buy a Sony Bravia tv in the UK, which I will then be shipping out with me to South America. An issue is that I will be moving from 220/240v to 110/120v. When I have raised this in-store I have received no satisfying suggestions from the salesmen that I have spoken to.

Are you aware if there are any transformers that Sony recommend, which will not invalidate my product warranty if there is a problem with the set and it comes to light that I was running it through same?

I would rather purchase a set from the UK (or another country which sells PAL sets) as I have a fairly large collection of region 2 dvds.

Of course, if there is another solution to this issue then I will be happy to hear it.

Regards

Pete Gaunt

Hi Lee, thanks a lot for taking the time to reply

I hear what you are saying about the risk of transportation, but, if I take your advice, I'm probably going to pay a fair bit more cash for a set that is likely to be set up to work with the NTSC signal. That being so, I am told that such a tv may well have trouble playing Region 2 DVDs.

Do you have any useful opinion, information pertaining to this aspect of my dilemma?

Pete

Message was edited by: petegaunt71
