im not sure about this: false RAM info?

the sony site says the RAM module in the VGN-FE41Z operates at 667MHZ, so why does this program tell me that it operates at 332.5MHZ? and if thats just me being stupid plz explain the importance of RAM speed, i cant find a simple definition

Hi dazwan,

This is OK. Your memory modules are DDR2 (Double-Data Rate2) so you have to double the reading given of 332.5MHz.

This is something to do with doubling the bandwidth by double-pumping twice on each frequency wave without increasing the frequency of the FSB.

Have a Google for something like Wikipedia - it will explain it better than I can.

That is the I/O clock of CPU <-> RAM.

The true clockspeed of your DDR2 is 166MHZ. And the effective clockspeed is ~667MHz. (DDR2 is working with a prefetch of 4 and not 2, like DDR)
