Hi there.

I own a very nice SZ2VP.

Unfortunately, it continually overheats. It doesn't matter if it is on a desk or elsewhere, it runs at over 75°C. I am quite worried by this, as I am sure a 'laptop' is not meant to burn your leg.

The heat is based around the cooling fan and battery. Although, it is hot enough to make typing difficult. I also find that in the Power settings disable soon after re-enabling them. The CPU is running low, probably in response to the cooling issue.

Unrelated the the above, the option to enable/disable the wireless & bluetooth adapters independently has disappeared. I can run both at the same time, but not together. It is run by the Intel PROSet/Wireless control. Device is seen as 3945ABG & Toshiba bluetooth.

Any thoughts on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Nick

I've tried the air option but no luck.

75°C is a bit high don't you think? I have also seen a loose screw sliding around within the case. I have no idea how that has happened, as I treat my laptop extremely carefully.

Could there be a build issue with my machine? What do I do?

Yes, I can see the screw inside the case. I get a horrible rattle now when the hard drive winds-up.

The fan is always working hard at those high temperatures. It is still within warranty, but I have no idea where to get it serviced.

You need to contact VAIO Link to organise a repair.
