Do Sony gaurantee their waranty repairs??

Had My Vaio VGN FJ1Z For about 15 months now. About 8 months ago I had the DVD drive replaced as it was faulty. Now my warranty has expired and the DVD drive has packed in again. Not happy.
So anyway, my laptop is no longer under warranty (over a year old) but my repair is only 8 months old. I cant imagine I will be covered but any advice appreciated.

Hello,

I'm not sure for how long but there is a warranty on the replacement for a certain period, wether that period stretches to 8 months I doubt it, it's probably more likely 6, but worth checking maybe via e-support.

Unfortunately your right. It is 6 months and that is 2 months too short for me. Im really not happy with Sony. My PS2 developed the disk read error after just over a year so is useless, my DAV-SC8 home cinema system wont read disks after just 2 years and now my vaio has lost its second DVD drive. A bit of a pattern forming there.

Anyway any advise on the cheapest way to repair. Im happy to change it myself so am thinking ebay for the drive??
