problems while recovering vaio

Hi,
I have a vaio FJ3S/W . Recently I started having the blue screen with different information everytime like : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, win32.sys, ntfs.sys, {Unable to locate component}, PFN_LIST_CORRUPT, hard Error.

I tried starting in safe mode, but again got the blue screen. Then I thought about using the recovery disk to recover the c drive. Initially I performed the hard disk check and it passed successfully. Then I tried recovering the vaio using the recovery disk. When it is about 9 percent in the process, the process aborts saying that "failed to read image file". What can I do now? - my warranty has expired recently 😞

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Nav

Hi Nav,

Two other ways to start the Recovery Process if you still have your Recovery Partition intact: -

If you can boot into Windows -

Start -> All Programs -> Vaio Recovery Tool -> Vaio Recovery Utility

and choose 'Drive C:\ Recovery' from the menu.

If you cannot boot into Windows -

At the first Vaio splash screen during boot, tap F10 continuously and this should start the Recovery to factory settings from the hard disc hidden partition.

However, now when i pressed the "retry recovery button, it again gave me a blue screen with: Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error with a STOP message indicating dmboot.sys . Is this becoming worse?
thanks,
nav

Hi,
I have opened a case with the esupport for vaio, but they have not responended in 3 days. If the F10 method is not working, doesn't it mean that the recovery partition itself was flawed since the very beginning - as the restored DVD also gives the same error at the same point!
Should I borrow one of my friend's xp disk and try to re-install XP using my own product key? Am not sure how to proceed on this.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nav

Yeah, sounds like the recovery partition has been corrupted in some way.

The quickest route to support is via the phone, the eSupport is usually slow.
