Hello out there,

I´m writing from germany, so please be patient with my english 😉

I got a problem with the touchpad on my new Sony FE41S. It worked fine at the beginning, but for now it simply refuses to respond (buttons AND pad). Only way to make the cursor move is to use an external mouse (which I normally do anyway, however, for usage in the train or any other short sessions I´d like to use my pad!).
The device-manager in the system area says, that the only input/pointing device installed right now is my external MS-mouse. Probably need to reinstall some drivers for the pad, but where do I find them (on harddisk / in Sony support / in the system area?). How are these driver called there?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Greetings from southern germany,
Steffen

It will return everything to the way it came out of the factory but it must be a last resort because it is a lot of work replacing your programs etc.

If the pad doesn't work after that then it is a hardware problem. It is always best to do this before contacting sony as this is the first thing they ask you to do.

Admittedly: Considering that I bought a new hih-class-1500€ product that obviously has (then inacceptable) defects right from the beginning, I´m not willing to accept to send ist in and wait weeks for repair. Things like that MAY happen (however, they shouldn't) - is Sony germany goint to repair it RIGHT here or bring over a new Notebook? Cause that´s the only thing I'm willing to accept.

Well you have only had it for 3 weeks so under UK law you are able to return it and get a new one. I am not sure about german law but i imagine it to be fairly similar. You could take it back and demand a replacement. Anything is worth reducing the waiting time. Have heard that repairs can take upto 5 weeks.
