Help needed please.no power to my laptop

Help needed please.no power to my laptop.I pluged my Vaio into my car adapter today to use it on my GPS.the adapter was set at the right voltage but the wrong polarity,and something popped.Now the power cable wont charge or work my laptop.
Please help...

Welcome to ClubVAIO

I am afraid that you have popped a capacitor or similar in the power regulator.

You will need to have it looked at by sony and they will need to replace the parts that have been damaged.

Contact them here to arrange the repair.

Is it in warranty?

no its not under warranty.my email has changed since i first reg with sony,and i cant logon,i tried to make a new account but it says already reg and wont let me,keeps saying my password will be send to my old email,i cant accessed that anymore.
how much does it cost to get it repaired,does anyone have a motherboard service manual???

Do you know your e-support password?

If so then you can get into it and change your contact details.

Otherwise ring Sony and sort it out that way.

As for price assuming its just the power board that has gone you are looking at £191.61 but if it has also damaged the main board it will be £469.28.

yes it powers up on what left of the battery charge,but it wont recharge the battery or run of the mains...it runs ok on the battery now but when it runs out,it wont recharge it.

Repair is your only option as its a physical problem due to the damage of the incorrect polarity.

I see a new board the same as mine ,but it say it has BIOS Password,can this be removed easy.Let me know asap.

Hi are you here to help me,Is there away to undo the BIOS password,remove the cmos battery,If i had the motherboard service manual,I am sure i could repair it myself knowing what capasitor has blown.
£200.00 to repair a faulty blown power supply.
I need help .so do you just want me to pay out lots of cash for a repair,that i guess can be done much cheaper.I guess you work for SONY.

Only Tweety2B is a sony employee and he runs the fourm.

All members are joe public.

Its up to you if you want to have a go at fixing it yourself then go ahead but if you get it wrong you risk causing more damage and then have to spend out more money to get it fixed.
