300GB Notebook HD upgrade query...

Hi,

I'm hoping somebody will be kind enough to advise me if the following is possible before I waste a lot of money!

I currently have a VGN-BX297XP notebook that comes as standard with 2x 100GB 2.5" Hard Drives. I believe these are SATA drives?

As I'm running out of space I was going to replace one of them (both eventually) with one of these: http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=4MRY&CategorySelectedId=11154&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11154,47250000,40970000&InMerch=1

Will this work or is this not as straightforward as it seems?

Hi Steve,

You will just have to check the form factor of the drives you have installed now - a quick Google should give you the physical dimensions.

The 300GB drive you have linked is 100 X 70 X 12.5 mm and 2.5" drives come in several heights 19mm, 17mm, 12.5mm and 9.5mm.

You just need to check that your BX-Series does not use the slimline 9.5mm drive.
