i have a problem i'm hoping someone can help me with.

i have a pcg-k415s vaio. it came with 2x hynix pc2700 333mhz ddr 256mb chips. i've just put in 2x adata pc2700 333mhz ddr 512chips to take it to 1gb but it's only registering 512mb in the bios. If i take one chip out, it registers 256mb and not the 512. Yet I have a program that tells me 1024mb has been installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Nick

Hi Chris.

Yeah I managed to find the problem. It was a simple case of non-compatible memory! I ended up buying some online from a site called www.offtek.co.uk They had a proper search engine and rather than a "100% compatible" claim (which turned out not to be true!), it came up with specific memory for the model. Received it today, slammed it in, so far working!

The software I used was called cpu-z.

Hope this helps!

Nick
