Why is VGN-FZ21 so useless?

Hi al.
I have brought this Sony Vaio i december 2008 and it's been "blue screen crashing" ever since! Is that normal for a Sony Vaio? Also it's even slower than my Acer 1300 from 1998!

Hi Pihl and welcome.

Blue screens are usually caused by installing incompatible software. drivers, viruses or occasionally corrupted software.

Can you read the message on the Blue Screen - it usually names the program or hardware causing the problem. You can turn off the automatic re-boot to allow you to read this screen at your leisure - you will then have to shut down by holding the power button for 5 seconds and on booting again you can reinstate the automatic re-boot again.

1. Click Start button.
2. From Start menu Click Control panel.
3. In Control Panel Click the System icon.
4. In the System Window look on the Left hand side of the window and you will see a list of options. Click on the Advanced System Settings option.
5. Because Computer management requires administrative privileges you may find the User Account Control will pop up. If it does then enter the required information (if you are not the administrator) or, if you are the administrator, click the Continue button.
6. In the Advanced Settings window look for the Startup and Recovery section and then Click the Settings button.
7. In the Startup and recovery window look for the section marked System failure and remove the 'tick' mark from the 'Automatically Restart' option. Now press the OK button.
8. Finally click the OK button on the System properties Window and then close the system window.

Let us know the error codes.

My advice would be to return your Vaio to factory settings using the Vaio Recovery Centre and setting it up again with Windows and Vaio updates. Then only install Vista compatible software.

Thanks for your answer, but the "blue screen crashes" habbens with the preinstalled software and my pc has been in for repairs three times!!!!!

Alle the other are the same everytime! It get VERY warm just before the "blue screen crash"! I have messured up to 55 degrees!!!!! Sony have chosen to repair on it, but they have not succeeded! Im getting pretty tired of this standard fra Sony!

Hi all.
Sony claims to have "blue screen crashes" on all of their Vaio's, so they are making a brand new software to make all the Sony Vaio's in the world work again! Sound's farout? Damm right you are!
That is it with Sony? What can yhey actually make work besides Playstation? Have to go now, this Vaio is getting so hot, it needs a pause! It's been running for almost 10 minutes, so I better turn it off, before it melts!

Any sugtions about what to do to make Vista work on a Vaio VGN-F21Z? So far is all "blue screen crashes"! And it's been to the repairs 4 times the last ½ year!

Sony have done NOTHING. Everytime they broke something! Otherwise, they just re-installed the software. That's the kind of stuff I can do. They claim to have tested this Vaio and found nothing wrong, but if you USE it instead of testing, you'll expirience the 60 degrees working temperature, the fan blowing like mad and the "blue screen crashes" every 15 minutes.
I fell and understand, that I must be the first Sony Vaio custumer and therefore run a kind of BETA test for them!
I was told that I should change NOTHING on this PC, otherwise it will not work! HELLO, ever heard about customizing your Vaio?
This is a utterly useless product, that NEVER should have been set for sale. I will never buy a Sony product for the rest of my life! Sony is just not ready! At least they should fix ttheir Vista problems. Everybody else in the world have!
May Sony burn in hell!

Hi all.
When you recieve your Vaio from the repairs, you get a paper which tells you that "now our best technicians have repaired your Vaio, so now it's up to Sony standards"! And what did I recieve?

"blue screen crashes"
Working temperatures around mouse pad at up to 50 degrees!
Random lettering (sometimes swedish, sometimes english & sometimes danish!
Unable to run files with movie content!
Startup & shutdown times around 10-15 minutes!

This is Sony standard! I told Sony denmark that I would go to court with this crap and finally after 1/2 a year & a lot of fustration, I got my money back.

I now own a MacBook Pro and it's 100 times better on all levels. It just WORKS perfect. Sony, you have a LONG way to go!!!!

Get a real pc, get a apple product!
